Pictures taken on our hike up to the Second Burroughs, at Sunrise (Mt. Rainier).

The creekbed

The creekbed
We hiked this for about 1/2 mile. This was actually the trail, a creek, and we were going uphill on this.

The beginning of the worst part

The beginning of the worst part
This was all uphill for about a mile, to get to the Second Burroughs, for the best view of the mountain.

On the way up

On the way up
Picture taken by a friend that we ran into, Lauire George. She's a professor at the University of Washington. Super nice lady. Hikes the trails around Mt. Rainier almost every weekend.

Me and Laurie

Me and Laurie
Me and Laurie George, U of W professor of English. She hiked with us for about a mile, pointing out things we would have missed and suggesting other trails we'd enjoy. The Burroughs Mountain hike we were on is her favorite.

Cute chipmunk

Cute chipmunk
Very friendly chipmunks.

About halfway there

About halfway there
Not sure where this was taken, somewhere along the trail. I look exhausted so I think it was about halfway.

On the way down

On the way down
I'm exhausted here as we're on the way back to the parking lot. Still have about another three miles to go, but at least it was mostly downhill at this point.
